Here’s what Josh had to say about his experience with Kase Scenarios…

Can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your background?

I’m Josh, and I started learning about OSINT around 10 years ago, and I’ve been obsessed with it every day since! I studied cybersecurity in university and have since worked in the private sector and law enforcement.

What got you interested in OSINT?

I have always been interested in OSINT since I learned about it, because an investigation is like solving a puzzle, and I’ve always loved those. It has allowed me to use my skills to protect people’s safety both online and in the real world, and to teach others these skills, which is always exciting.

How did you hear about Kase Scenarios, and what made you try it?

I heard about Kase Scenarios from their incredible team. They have been a big part of the OSINT community for a long time, and bringing this new style of immersive training for OSINT seemed very interesting and something I needed to try out.

Which scenarios have you completed, and which was your favorite?

I have completed a few of the scenarios, but a unique opportunity for me was helping to create one of them, The Vanishing of Rosie Parker. It was exciting to be a part of the process, but even more to see how people were getting on with the challenge afterwards. I tried to make it difficult because I wanted to really challenge people. I think I certainly did that, but people still managed to complete it, which was great to see!

How has Kase Scenarios helped you develop your OSINT skills?

As the scenarios are all so different, by doing just a few of them, you are testing such a wide range of OSINT skills. Not only has it helped with general OSINT methodology and techniques, but it has also helped with other important aspects that often get overlooked, such as effective report writing.

Do you feel more prepared for real-world OSINT work after completing them?

Yes, as they aren’t just random mini challenges, they are fully immersive scenarios that go from the start of an investigation all the way through to the end. This accurately shows how it can be in the real world with this kind of work.

What would you say to someone on the fence about trying Kase Scenarios?

I certainly recommend trying it out. The scenarios are very affordable, and I expect they will exceed your expectations just with the production value alone. The images, videos, and character voices are so realistic, you really feel like you are part of a real-life investigation. It’s the perfect chance to experience what real investigations can be like throughout different types of industries and job roles, while also being able to learn and practice the skills needed to do them well.

How do you see OSINT—and Kase Scenarios—playing a role in your future career?

OSINT isn’t just my career; it is a huge passion of mine, so no matter what, I know it will play a big part in my future. As Kase Scenarios keeps developing scenarios with new ideas and technologies, I’m already excited to try them out.
